So, Friday night was WILD, COOL AND SWINGIN'
over at the Blm Center for Performing Arts and
BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY... (my boys!!!).
We were in the second row from the stage, so they were RIGHT THERE when they came up to do solos!!! IT WAS AWESOME!!!

And then I stayed and had them autograph my Christmas CD insert... they are really nice guys and we (the fans in line and the boys) got into a funny conversation because they kinda got snowed in in Fargo.. and then Iowa City..

TAKE NOTE DANCERS!!! I did talk to the coordinators of the BCPA and told them they needed to bring swing/salsa/ballroom dance bands to their ballroom and make Blm the DANCE CENTER of Illinois... They were excited to get some feedback and working on spring schedules now...I especially mentioned the swing clubs in all the surrounding cities and how ballroom dancing is definitely needed back in the area.

So, here's what we do.. we give them a list of the bands and DJ's we LOVE to dance to.. give them dates that WOULD NOT WORK and an idea of how much the ticket price should be for DJ as compared to St. L band coming up...And we'll see what we can do.. pass this along to everyone. Howdy.. can you tell I'm getting all tied up with the festive holiday events?!?!


I did have a really fun weekend of dancing to HIP POCKET .. they sound just as good as ever.


And then on Sunday was the last 2009 dance for Dance Partners Dance Studios at Miller Park Pavilion. Other than that.. I've been too busy to dance... *gasp!!!
*no dance in January.. Feb and March dates are NOT the first Sunday of the month.

So in case I don't get another e-letter out.. have a wonderful holiday season... and let me know where to party for NYE!!!

Lots more places to dance, check the blog for the complete list...FYI... a bar called RHINO'S in dt Blm has closed.. so don't go there or SIX STRINGS for Salsa!!!
Salsa has once again crashed and burned in B/N.
There is talk about trying to get a NIGHTCLUB DANCE for the over 35 crowd started up in place of Salsa.. we'll see...hopefully the dance will start BEFORE 9 pm.. that was a big problem with Salsa during the week... most of us HAVE JOBS and want to go home by 10 pm.. not start dancing... there's an untapped crowd of dancers in B/N dying to go out during the week.. but we want a mixture of dance music (WCS, Hustle, Salsa, Tango, etc) and a decent time to get the dance started... It's been a dream of ours for a very long time!!!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING...
I have time to finish this before the parades begin!!!
I did get caught up in a pelting snow storm last night in North Normal!!!Great way to finish a night after watching vampires and werewolves fight each other.. I think I'm switching TEAMS!!! ;-)

Yes, I've been a very busy girl!!! The Baby Fold's FESTIVAL OF TREES went up and carried on and was torn down all within a week.. and I'm more than happy to be a part of it all. Even if it meant missing a lot of great dance events.Now we just need a new home!!! Anyone know a place with 30-40,ooo sq. ft.??

Well, I've heard that the ISU Jazz Bands brought in a fun and loyal dance crowd. I hope to make it for their Valentine Dance in 2010. I told Mr. M. that he should bring the band out to the festival for more fun.

I KNOW I won a wreath from the Champaign FESTIVAL OF TREES... and I know that all my donations for the Blm festival were "sold"... YEAH!!!

I KNOW that the new entry of the SUGAR CREEK CLOGGERS at the Blm FESTIVAL OF TREES was a big hit... congrats and THANK YOU for getting involved!!! +something PAL Swing might consider???

I KNOW we had fun at the BCPA and DISCO FEVER took over... thanks to Eric and Cathy H., we had a really great time at the show or dancing afterwards.

I KNOW that CHAPTER 6 put on an excellent show at the Blm Festival Of Trees.. funny, touching, amazing show and really nice guys!!!!

I KNOW that Duke has taken his singles dances to one a month in Dec. and Jan., so watch the club's website and the next dance will be the holiday dance on Dec. 18th... so hopefully we can get a ton of you out and dancing and enjoying friends at his next Singles/Social Dance.That makes the January dance MARDI GRAS!!!!

I KNOW the winners of Dancing With The Stars is DONNY AND KYM!!!! YEAH... I was rooting for him but I thought Mya was a better dancer til Dmitry screwed with the final dance!!! So for another season, that final dance decided the winner of the show!!!! SOOOO YEAH DONNY YEAH DONNY YEAH DONNY....

Sorry gang, can you tell I've been busy and lost interest and can't spend a lot of time typing without my wrist hurting... if it cramps up.. I'm in toooooo much pain.

The biggest rumor is that DUKE'S Dance at The New Lafayette Club will go down to 1 dance a month in Dec. and Jan., I've heard the dances will still be on Dec. 18th and that's his holiday dance.

Hellooooo.... did you miss me last week??? Way toooo much going on.. and it only gets more hectic from here til Thanksgiving since I'm still involved with
The Baby Fold's FESTIVAL OF TREES... no longer involved in entertainment,
I'm busy with designs and the gift shop... so I really should be making garland halos, so not sure you'll get another email for 2 weeks or so..
but all the info is on the web anyway...

But first... Duke's Halloween Singles Dance was a whole lotta fun. Thank you to his daughters for handing out goody bags to attendees... the girls looked adorable!!!

Thank you to my committee of Gloria, Sue and Ralph for set-up, tear-down and getting me dressed in the award winning costume as a Corpse Bride.I decided that my only chance to wear a wedding dress and have Duke as my DJ at the Lafayette Club would be through death... so inspired the costume and THANK YOU to Cathy Sutliff for having a dress available
Thank you to the judges for choosing me... I'll use the money as holiday pay, since an independent housekeeper doesn't get holiday/vacation/sick pay... so THANK YOU...

Jimmy won BEST MALE COSTUME as The SPRITE, his partner, the Woodland Fairy came in second... she was beautifully painted by Mickey Lower, actually, they both were...

Thank you to everyone who came in costumes!! The runner-ups were The Phantom of the Opera, The WOODLAND Fairy ... and then we had Chili Peppers and Pumpkins and Blue Fairy and pirates and sexy Nurses and She-devils and and and... check out some photos at site listed below...


Then last weekend, on Friday, I handed out candy to about 1500 kids in Uptown Normal.. sooo much fun seeing the kids and talking to them...

Then we continued the costumes at The Eagles Club and then a bunch of us joined Miss Mickey at SWINGER'S GRILLE... and once our group started getting our faces painted... things got a little crazy as Mr. Who is now known as MONKEY MAN!!! Whatta hoot that was.... soooo much fun... we're following Miss Mickey wherever she goes!!!!


Then Sat., it was off to VFW with Biscuits N Gravy Band... where my Cruella deVil costume was another award winner.. yeah.. more money for Holiday Pay!!! There is a method to my madness!!


So, all in all in was a fun and exhausting Halloween season. We got to dress normally for the dance at Miller Park Pavilion, so that was nice!!! Glad everyone came out in the beautiful weather for some dancing... Cathy's next dance is HOLIDAY THEME!!!

And then tonight on the ABC National News I saw the WEDDING CHAPEL ON WHEELS!!! We saw it at Decatur Celebration and I took photos of my friends in front of it... actually 1 guy and 3 ladies were in the photo... THAT WAS FUN TO SEE THAT. They showed how it was all put together.
